What you will do:
You will be responsible for carrying out laboratory experiments to answer questions that will inform on the success of larger projects. You will be contributing to a project where electrocatalysis and sustainable protein production collide. You will have hands-on experience in areas of microbiology, electrochemistry, bioremediation and chemistry. In addition, you will understand closely the scale up processes.
Responsibilities of this role include:
● Developing and updating protocols and guidelines for laboratory operations.
● Organising and sending samples for laboratory testing.
● Collaborating in design of experiments along with the R&D team.
● Collaborating on the operation of laboratory research particularly in microbiology and applied microbiology.
● Presenting a study report to the R&D team.
Qualifications, skills and attributes needed:
● Knowledge of technical basis (Science, microbiology, biochemical, or similar). It is desirable to have a strong knowledge in microbiology and biochemistry. An interest and desire to build your knowledge in applied microbiology, electrochemistry and methanogenesis is expected.
● Ability to conduct chemical analyses and research.
● Motivated individual who is energetic and willing to learn.
● Good communication skills and record keeping abilities.
● Reliable and collaborative.
● Problem-solving aptitude and organizational abilities. You will need to be studying at a New Zealand tertiary education institute (NZQA level 6-10).
You can’t apply for an internship if you’re studying outside of Aotearoa, New Zealand. If your studies have been completed, the closing date of the last semester must be less than 12 months ago. You must also be legally permitted to work in New Zealand.
Internship period: you must be available to work full time (40) hours per week - Early Jan – Late March 2025.
